Curriculum Descriptions: High School Mathematics: The Mathematical sequence for high school students at Ideal Academy Public charter School is currently as follows: Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II/Trigonometry. Our mathematics program uses the McDougal – Littell book series to deliver instructions. In addition, our low-performing/failing students are supplemented with our Resource program, which provides smaller class sizes and more concentrated time on task, thereby increasing the amount of instruction offered to our students. The Mathematics curriculum standards, standards documents, curriculum guides, and student texts are directly aligned with DCPS standards and used by the teachers to help our children achieve Mathematical competence as measured by the D.C. CAS. English: The English/Language Arts sequence for high school students at Ideal Academy Public Charter School is currently as follows: Literary Genres/English I, World Literature/English II, and British Literature/English III. As a supplement to their Standard English Program. Our English program uses Elements of Language and Elements of Literature from the Holt Company textbook series to deliver instruction. In addition, our low-performing/failing students are supplemented with our Resource program, which provides smaller class sizes and more concentrated time on task, thereby increasing the amount of instruction offered to our students. CAS. Social Studies: The Social Studies sequence for high school students at Ideal Academy Public Charter School is currently as follows: World History I/World Geography I, World History II/World Geography II, and American History. Our Social Studies program uses the Glencoe textbook series to deliver instruction. The Social Studies curriculums standards, standards documents, curriculum guides, and student texts are directly aligned with DCS standards. Science: The Science sequence for high school students at Ideal Academy Public Charter School is currently as follows: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science and Physics Lab. Our Science program uses the Holt textbook seriesand Glencoe to deliver instruction. The Science curriculum standards, standards documents, curriculum guides, and student texts are directly aligned with DCPS standards. Enrichment/Elective Courses: Physical Education/Heath (Year long course), Success Maker (Computer Lab that supports the Mathematical and English department with resources to assist with the standards of DCPS), Public Speaking (Venue for continuing students English education), French, Test Prep, Music (Choir, Instruments and Vocals) and Sign Language
