Board Policy

Policy statement for High School Students who may have a reduced class loads.

To be placed in the Student Management Section after Students Attendance:

Board responsibility-

            The board of trustees Of IAPCS recognizes that the high school students may have the need from time to time to be involved in approved education activities and/or work outside of the school campus during the normal school hours.  It is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to ensure that off-campus activities are approved and appropriately monitored.  The Board further recognizes its responsibility to be accountable for the safety and security and for the location of all its enrollees during normal school hours. 

These policies apply to students who maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average.

* Board of Trustees of IAPCS recognizes the following activities as appropriate off-campus activities for high school students:

-          Internships

-          Fellowships

-          Advanced Placements

-          Coursework at other sites, (i.e. exchange schools, local colleges/universities, ect.)

-          Other Identified activities as agreed upon in writing by all involved policies

The administration shall maintain current and accurate records of all students’ off-campus activities including the students’ schedule, reason or justification for participation, site, hours of participation, parental and student consent forms, and administration’s designee responsible for monitoring the activity.

*  It is the policy of the board of trustees of IAPCS to exempt select students from full participation or attendance, where appropriate. This exemption may apply to the following students:

-          Students (particularly seniors) who have completed most of their requirements for graduation and whose class work requires less than a full school day.

-          Student who have parental permission to leave school.

The administration shall maintain current and accurate records for students who qualify under the stated policy.  The records must include the student’s class schedule, the reason for leaving the school (i.e. work, internships, ect.), work site, if appropriate, parental permission and administration’s signature to document that the student is meeting all requirements for graduation.
